October Tour – Leeds!

So our Autumn tour started off in Leeds on Wednesday 3rd.

We left Birmingham at 5:30am all piled into Lesley’s car.
Our first stop was Yorkshire Radio at 9am.  On arrival we presented DJ Darren Harper with his Musgrave mug, to thank him for having us.

A cup of tea each and a handshake later, we were on air.  We discussed the album release, So Sofia and performed a stripped down acoustic live version of So Sofia too.
Darren was such a great guy and so much fun, we all sang along to the current UK Number 1 by PSY – Gangnam Style, in his studio once we were done, just for fun, coz the song cropped up on conversation when talking about our YouTube channel and Film Fridays.

You can hear our Yorkshire Radio session on Tuesday 9th just after 11am on: http://www.yorkshireradio.net/
It will be tweeted when it’s on too, follow @chubbyewok or @Yorkshireradio.

One down, one more to go!
We headed (upon recommendation by Darren) to Billy’s Bar at Elland Road Stadium for a late breakfast.  Matthew Bennett had beans and a fried egg on toast, whilst the rest of us had a MASSIVE Full English Breakfast, hash browns, black pudding and everything, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Too full and hardly able to move, we then drove to BBC Radio Leeds to meet Jonathan I’Anson for our 12pm slot with him.
This time we performed two songs – So Sofia, and Discover Me (both acoustic again) and he really seemed to love it!  We had a more in depth chat here, about the album as a whole piece of art and the lyrical content and meaning of the songs.  Lovely!

We gave Jonathan a Musgraves mug too (he loved it so much he tweeted it!) and then headed into town to park up near the Cockpit ready for soundcheck at 4pm.

Our BBC Leeds session will be aired on Saturday 6th on: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radioleeds
Again, it will be tweeted as to when it’s on, so keep an eye out! Follow @johnnyianson or @BBCLeeds.

We were onstage at 9pm at the Cockpit in Leeds, and did a really special one-off set; acoustic and raw.  It was a really intimate show, where Matt’s vocals could really be heard and the violin was beautifully exposed – something different to usual, and the crowd seemed to really appreciate it.
We arrived safely back in Brum at about 2:00am.  Phew.

Support came from La Bête Blooms, Yannick and The Hubbards.

Thanks to Joe the promoter.
